Lazy Rainy Preparation Day

It's a lazy rainy day here and I'm sitting here thinking of all the things that I have to do for tomorrow.
  • I need to make a cake
  • I need to chop the veggies
  • I need to figure out what containers I will need to transport the food

It's easy to let your mind wander on days like today.  If I had a comfy couch and some decent channels to watch on TV - I'd be curled up watching an old black and white movie.   But alas and alack, that's not the case.

Been thinking a lot about what we eat.  On our recent trip to see Brian's parents; we found out of date food in their cupboards.  I know where they shop for their groceries, and I can not blame them for shopping there.  It does save you money - - however - - you have to be careful of what you buy there because it is out of date.

Anyway, this whole experience got me to thinking about the chemicals that are in our foods.  The other day we were at Walmart and a cute little orange flavored cake just happened to make its way into our cart.  The cake tasted really good - nice flavor and it only took two days to eat it.  I asked Brian to see what the ingredients were and he started reading off this whole list of chemicals!  The cake had so many chemicals in it, it was hard to find a natural ingredient!

We humans eat so many chemicals, it's a wonder that the undertakres still have to use chemicals (formaldehyde) on us when we die.  The chemicals we eat should ensure that our bodies are well preserved for years to come.  It's amazing!

I want to eat natural foods - so I guess that means that we need to grow our own stuff.  That is our hope and our desire.  Grow our own veggies and plenty of them to share with our family and friends.
